Who We Are

The Reset Playbook is operated by The Reset Program, a nonprofit initiative based in San Diego, California, dedicated to proactive teen mental health and life skills education.

What We Collect

Because the app requires no account or login, we collect very limited information:

• Usage progress — topics viewed, quizzes completed, and XP earned are stored locally on your device and, if you choose, synced to our secure database so your progress persists across sessions.
• AI session usage — to prevent abuse of our AI-powered features, we track the number of AI sessions used per day using your device's IP address. This data is not linked to any personal identity.
• Anonymous analytics — we may collect aggregate, non-identifiable data (such as which topics are most viewed) to improve the app. This data cannot be used to identify you.

How We Use This Information

• To save and restore your in-app progress across sessions
• To manage daily AI session limits fairly across all users
• To understand which topics and features are most helpful to teens
• To improve the quality and relevance of app content over time

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose.

AI-Powered Features

The Reset Playbook includes AI-powered content such as topic summaries and quizzes. These features are provided through third-party AI services. When you use an AI feature, your request is sent to the AI provider to generate a response. We do not send any personal information to these services — only the content of your in-app request.

AI session usage is rate-limited per device to ensure fair access for all users.

Children's Privacy

The Reset Playbook is designed for use by teenagers and is intended to be used in school settings with appropriate supervision. We take children's privacy seriously.

• We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent.
• Because no account or personal information is required to use the app, students can engage with all content without providing any identifying information.
• If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to us, please contact us at debi@resetplaybook.org and we will promptly address your concern.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. Ever.

We may share aggregated, non-identifiable data with school partners, grant funders, or research partners to demonstrate program impact. This data cannot be traced back to any individual user.

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

Data Storage and Security

Your progress data is stored in a secure, encrypted production database. We use industry-standard security practices to protect any data we store. IP-based session data is not permanently stored and is cleared on a rolling daily basis.

While no system is 100% secure, we are committed to protecting the minimal data we hold.

Your Choices

• Use without any data stored: You can use the app in a fully offline manner. Progress may not persist across sessions in this case.
• Delete your progress data: Since no account is required, you can clear app data at any time through your device's settings.

Third-Party Services

The Reset Playbook is built using Expo and hosted on infrastructure provided by trusted third parties. These services have their own privacy policies which govern their use of data. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you interact with.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
